Hans Dulfer presented by handieMan: SCISSORS
The progressive saxophone player Hans Dulfer joined forces with producer handieMan to add his funky beats to Dulfers saxual melodies. Instead of his usual 'heavyjazz' repertoire, the King of Jazz has chosen a more 'loungy' approach, and shows a completely different side of himself on the 'Scissors' album. A side that, up till now, we haven't seen before.
handieMan maurice [Maurits de Weert] is a producer/musicdirector at the music/internet company Tree-Top [www.tree-top.nl]. His musical methods can best be described as arrangements of downtempo funky beats with an atmospheric character, combined with hard drum and basslines.

Reviews:
Dulfer! A word that's instantly recognizable in jazz. A name that belongs to a creative musician who's always open to new developments in the jazz and dance scene. His unique style was once described as (don't be scared) "Latinsoul-
funkbebbopswingpunkwithavantgarderock and discocountryspeedtrashmetal influences". And that doesn't wrap up his story because Dulfer is always more. Thanks to handieMan (!) he gets all the room to shine on his powerful and swinging tenor sax on his new musical adventure "Scissors".
This handieMan takes good care of bass, guitars, keys and programming. Gerald Taco van Dijk (trumpet), Miguel Boelens (altsax), Smita Gayadin and U-gene (voice sample) and AreMc (raps) are the other contributors to this exciting eleven-track album.
- OOR: ... a relaxed Dulfer, who you'd glady invite into your home
- www.heaven.be: handieMan (a fitting name) provides a funky and
atmospherical foundation over which Dulfer can improvise freely.
- De Limburger: for some creatures, age is not an issue...
- Fret: lovely laidback and tense; this has to be the perfect cd to
create an atmosphere on a long warm summer evening on a terrace or balcony
- Jazz magazine: a new side of Dulfer
- MusicMaker: the end result is an album that once again shows that jazz music (and all improvisational music) has got a neccesary new impuls with the current digital-musical instruments. Conclusion: Dulfer still has the guts, daring and succesful!!
- Gonzo, BE: ..with Scissors he knows to ride the wave of dance-
trends as a jazz saxophone player ... the edgy sounds make the music interesting for long-term listening.
Scissors:
With 'Scissors' we cut [ctrl-x] Audio to Samples. We cut Samples to Loops and Loops to Tones. During the 'Scissors Project' Dulfer and handieMan took the irreverisble step [shift-strl-x] of cutting short their long hairs.
Twelve inch:
To accomplish more club promotion a 12"/EP vinyl record was produced, containing the original album version of the title track 'Scissors' and a scratchy remix done by C-Mon & Kypski. Also an electro remix was done by Bastian of the track 'Tapetricks', while handieMan remixed 'Valves'to an extended version.

Yuli Miguel
After reaching the final of Idols and being part of the 4 live performances at a sold-out Ahoy in March 2003, Yuli is particularly known for her unique musical performance and voice. Besides her voice being on the Hans Dulfer 'Sissors' CD, She'll soon be climbing the stage together with Hans Dulfer and HandieMan. In the meantime, Yuli has been attending solo performances in the Delamar Theater in Amsterdam, The Kuip in Rotterdam, and the Dunya festival. Before she'll start attending the Pre-cast of the Lion King in autumn (theatre production by Joop v/d Ende) she's busy developing her new single which she is co-writing. The single will be straight from the heart and will feature profound lyrics.
